The Lockport Township Clerk is the custodian of all records, books, papers, certificates, oaths and official documents of the township.  The Clerk must give official notice of the Annual Town Meeting (held each April in accordance with state law), special meetings, and certain elections; serves as clerk for the Highway Commissioner, and annually certifies to the county clerk the amount of taxes that must be reaised to support Township operations.  The Clerk also provides free Notary Public services, Voter registration services, information concerning absentee voting, and the next election.

Voting Information

You must be a registered voter to vote in all elections.  If you were registered by have changed your address or name since the last election, or expect to do so before the next election, you will have to re-register.

You can register on any regular business day at the Township Clerk’s office.  There is no cost and it will only take a few minutes.  Absentee ballots may be obtained from the clerks office for any upcoming elections.

Election Judge Opportunities

  • You must be a United States Citizen
  • You must have lived in the voting precinct for 30 days by election day.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age by election day.
  • You must provide two forms of identificataion, one showing your legal name and current address.  If you were not born in the United States, you will need to know the court, city, and state where, and the date on which you were naturalized.

Election judges are essential because precinct polling places cannot legally operate without them.  The judges are paid for each election.  Prior to each election, a training or refresher course is held.  Judges who have been tested and successfully passed will be paid an additional sum.  Please call Clerk George Mushro at (815)838-1031 for further information.
