Living In Lockport Township

Caton Farm / Bruce Road Transportation Corridor
Studies are progressing in the Caton Farm / Bruce Road corridor expansion and High Level Bridge. For current developments and meeting information please visit www.cfb-study.com

Senior Housing
”Gale Gardens” was ready for occupancy in the fall of 2001. Located about 200 yards southwest of the corner of Farrell Road and Division Street the complex is the result of a cooperative effort between Lockport Township, the City of Lockport and the Stough Group, a private developer.

The 50-unit development contains one bedroom apartments that are leased to senior citizens at a very affordable monthly rate. The single story design includes a community center, social activities and plenty of open space. The 2000 square foot community center includes a large meeting room and a television. The residents can walk around the five-acre complex and participate in activities staged by the Stough Group including field trips, parties and Bingo.

The development was immediately filled to capacity. A current waiting list numbering 175 confirms the great need for this facility and others like it. Lockport Township Officials are aggressively pursuing plans for additional senior housing in our area. Further information regarding the status of this project will be included in future website updates.

Senior Home Safety
A class is now offered to teach seniors tips in burglar proofing their homes, safely answering doors and telephones for those that are often home alone, as well as educating seniors on what criminals look for when selecting a home to invade or burglarize. The course will assist citizen’s in selecting proper dead bolt lock systems, as well as other methods to enhance personal home security.

This class is sponsored by the Lockport Police Department, if you would like further information regarding this class please call (815)838-2132 or you may visit their website at

Senior Residential Communities receive AED Donations
As public servants the township officials continually strive to establish programs and projects that truly help our citizens. Statistics have proven that having an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) onsite during a cardiac emergency can mean the difference between life and death.

Lockport Township Government has installed AED units in the Carillon at Cambridge, Carillon Lakes and Grand Haven Communities, and most recently in Lago Vista. Hopefully, having these units available in case of an emergency will provide peace of mind for residents.
